You don’t have to be a genius to know that calendar use is an absolutely essential tool to the success of your business, whether it’s for scheduling, accounting, or just keeping track of your to-do lists. But businesses of all shapes and sizes can reap huge benefits from keeping up with the calendar, specifically marketing strategy and client/customer engagement.
The Calendar is Your Business’s Best Friend!
Follow me on this. I know I’m not the only one who’s been scrolling through a social media site or seen a local ad or news update that proclaims, “It’s officially National ______ Month,” or, “Today is ______ Awareness Day,” and thought, “Wow. I didn’t even know that ______ was being recognized/observed!” This is obviously helpful information to consider for anyone seeking ideas to promote their business, and there is no shortage of holidays and observances out there, whether nationally recognized or not.
Of course, you may not be all that concerned with every single day, week or month that has some sort of observance attached to it. But the simple fact is: whether or not you care about a topic, your customers just might, which affords you an opportunity to capture their attention. Combine this with your knowledge of your clientele and your natural intuition as a business owner and you’ll surely find it easier to receive inspiration for promoting a new product, service, campaign, or social media post.
People Want Your Business in 2021!
There’s really no better time to utilize this kind of publicly available information than right now as we’re heading into the summer of 2021, where people are fatigued from the pandemic, vaccinated in increasing numbers, and ready to get out and interact with each other (and businesses) again, not to mention safety restrictions being eased or lifted in many parts of the country. You can seize great chances to not only reach new customers, but entice existing ones by drawing focus to a day, week, or month on the calendar.
June, for example, is widely known for being LGBTQ Pride Month, but it doesn’t stop there. Don’t forget that it’s African-American Music Appreciation Month, especially with Juneteenth coming up. June’s also recognized as National Safety Month, Men’s Health Month, and National Homeownership Month. And while June observes some solemn topics (National PTSD Awareness Month, National Adopt A Cat Month, etc.), there are plenty of celebratory ones as well; believe it or not, June is both National Candy Month and National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month!
You Have the Resources; Use Them!
The truth is, I’m only scratching the surface, and you don’t have to be an expert on this. Some great websites on which you can research observances (days, weeks, and months) include listofnationaldays.com, nationaltoday.com, and thereisadayforthat.com. If nothing else, one simple Google search might be all you need for a bit of marketing strategy.
This blog would be entirely too long if I attempted to include information on July or after, or even individual calendar days. But I don’t need to list them here for you; I just want you to believe they can make a difference in growing your business, and not just this summer, but throughout the year!
Ready to create a campaign around national days but don’t know how to get started, we can help, just email service@buyingtimellc.com with the subject line “I need assistance with marketing” and we’ll reach out to discuss how Buying Time can assist.
